I have not been looking forward to my birthday this year. As you all know I was going to turn 30! Now I know that 30 is really not that old but I fill like this is when everything starts to go down hill. Every morning the week of my birthday I would wake up and say to myself "Cowboy up or go sit in the truck!" I found out the Monday before my birthday that Olin was going to be home for my birthday. I was super excited because He is never around on my birthday. To be honest with you I was kinda wondering if Olin would even remember that it was my birthday! (He has forgot my birthday in the past) But, I was still excited to have him home and have an excuse to go on a date. Come to find out later Olin put in so much time and effort into surprising me on such a milestone birthday! Here is how it all started.
Surprise #1 Olin had Melanie call around to places in Tremonton to see if they would make cupcakes for my birthday.(A week before my birthday... can you believe it?!) Olin wanted the students in my class to celebrate the day with me. The students were out at break and Olin snuck into my room. When I came walking in he surprised me and showed me this huge box of cupcakes. Needless to say the students were so excited and had fun guessing how old I was!
Surprise #2 It was Guided Reading time so I was sitting at a table with a small group of kids and in walk these BEAUTIFUL flowers! I have never seen flowers this bright and vibrant before. I also loved the stuff they put around the vase. The card said this is surprise number 2. When I read this I thought to my self how can Olin even think of anymore surprises!!! LOL
Surprise #3 I love to eat crab on my birthday, but living in Malad has left us with not many options and the closest Red Lobster is in Layton. (Olin was kinda excited about this because he hates seafood). I can only get him to go with me once a year for my birthday. I told Olin that we could just eat somewhere close as long as I get to eat crab sometime this year. Olin was super excited because he found a place in Logan that served steak (his Favorite) and seafood (my favorite). He was laughing when he told me I found a place that both of us can eat at! I think this surprise was more for Olin than me! haha
Surprise #4 I went to work the next day. It was just like any other day. Olin had left that morning to California and I was back to doing chores. School was just about over and on Fridays I have a thing called Friday Fun were we get to watch a short video on whatever we have been learning about that week. The door to my room opened up and because it was dark all I could see was adult hands holding open the door and a little kid coming in. I thought it was just a parent coming to pick up their student. When I noticed that the guests were not here for a student but for me I started screaming!! I was so excited to see my little boys and family. My students did not know what to think... I bet they almost started crying until I told them that this was my family. Ky came in with balloons and suckers to give to my students. My dad heard a kid say "We get treats two days in a row!" My family took me to dinner, fed my animals (Dustin) and built a fire(dad) I was so excited that they were there and also because I hate chores and I always burn myself building fires. We had a great time over the weekend. My dad got to ride his bike a few times. We went exploring through old houses and found great treasures. I got to play with the boys and they got to see all the animals. On Saturday we went to Ogden, had lunch and watched a movie. I need to give a shout out to Ashlee... thanks for watching Brox for us! After the movie my family had to take off. I hate to admit that the drive back home was pretty lonely. I want to thank my family for coming up to be with me on my birthday. Thanks Mel for that long drive from Vegas, I know that Brox has a hard time. Dustin and Kenzie thanks for doing my chores, I HATE it. Thanks Dad for keeping that fire going I did not burn myself all week cause of you. And to Mom thanks for spring cleaning my house, paying for all the meals, bringing dad with you and just coming to be with me. I love you all. Oh yeah I need to give a shout out to Steph-I love you even though you were on the couch all week. (LOL) Don't worry Evan yours was the best gift of all... Gone!! (JK) can't wait to see ya! Surprise #5 Through out the week I was getting tons of birthday cards. I was so surprised to get so many cards. I did not know so many people knew when my birthday was. I started to get a little suspicious when I got a card personally from my Dad. I think it is kind of funny that I was getting so many birthday cards, but did not get suspicious until I got one from my Dad. Haha. Come to find out Olin and my mom came up with an idea to try to get me 30 cards for 30 years. I was so excited to go to my mailbox every day to see how may cards I got. I want to thank all of you for taking the time to think of me and to send all of those nice cards. It was fun remembering all the fun times that I have spent with you all. And yes, the mission was completed!! I got more than 30 cards! Thanks again to all of you and especially to my wonderful husband who made this the best birthday ever!!!

YEAH!! I would say mission accomplished. I can't decide what my favorite part of that weekend was... may be the times when Brox was sleeping in the van -jk- ok really it was finding those books...I've cleaned off all the bird poop and they are displayed nicely above the kitchen cabinets. P.S. I also loved wierding (is that a word?) out your Principal. LOL!
Don't worry I held down the fort hear on my couch :) I really wished that I could of been there though!
Happy Birthday!!
WOW...you just got done telling me that Olin doesn't know what romantic means. I guess he has been keeping it from you. Don't let him forget again. I am glad you had a great birthday.
